Interview:Roxanne Rhoads

As part of her blog tour for Paranormal Pleasures Roxanne Rhoads stopped by my blog today for an interview.

So give a warm welcome to Roxanne Rhoads!

1.      Can you tel lus a little bit about yourself?

I’m a busy bee in the book world- in addition to writing fiction, I am a freelance writer, a blogger, a book reviewer and promoter, and the owner of Bewitching Book Tours. I also recently joined Entangled Publishing as a book publicis
When I’m not busy in the book world I’m a wife and mom of three wonderful kids ages 5-19.

2..      When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I wanted to be a writer since I was a little kid. I was a bookworm so writing came naturally. I attended all the local young author’s conferences, wrote for school papers and entered every writing competetion I could. 2 of my poems were published when I was 11 and form then on I was hooked. In high school I wrote for the local paper and school paper. In college I wrote for several local publications and submitted my poetry nationally. I took a breal for awhile then came back to writing in 2005 and started writing fiction in addition to poetry and various forms of non-fiction.

3.     What comes first? The story, the charater(s) or the idea for the story?

Oh well, it all depends on the book or story. Sometimes characters come to me first and I work them into a book or story. Other times a book idea comes to me and I start with that. Overkill started with the first line popping into my head and then I created the story from that. I guess it all depends on what the muse wants to give me to work with on any given day.

4.      What would be your favorite past time activity, when you are not writing?

I love to read (obviously), craft, garden and treasure hunt for vintage goodies.

5. Are there any writers out there that have inspired you?

Kim Harrison, Laurell K Hamilton, Jeaniene Forst to name a few.

6. Can you tell a little more about  your book Paranormal Pleasures?

It's a collection of 10 erotic paranormal stories. Eight are previously published, two are brand new. A couple are examples of my early work while a few wer just written this past year. I re-edited everything for this book and was amazed at how much my writing style has evolved over the past 6 years.

7. What inspired you to write these stories?

Everything in this book that had been published before was only published in ebooks or on websites and I had quite a few people ask me when the works would be out in print. Especially "A Halloween to Remember". I had a lot of requests for that one to come out in print.

So I decided to round up my available stories that all fit into a general theme and put them together in one book available in both print and ebook formats.

8. Which story did you enjoy writing the most and why?

I love Halloween, it’s my favorite holiday so I think A Halloween to Remember was my favorite story to write, plus I just went crazy with my imagination creating the sexy Halloween party.

9. If you could have dinner with one of your characters who would you choose and why?

In this book, probably Renata. She has a history to tell and I want to know more. I think she will appear in another story.

10. Do you get a lot of responses from your readers?

Some of my readers are very loyal and I hear from them a lot. They always tell me that they read my newest or they posted a review for me. They are follow me from website to website whenever I’m on tour or being a guest somewhere. They  are so fabulous  and supportive, I really appreciate it.

11. What are you currently working on?

I have a series of sexy vampire novels I’m working on  and a stand alone chick lit style
paranormal normal novel featuring a witch coming into her powers late in life.

12. Is there anything you would like to say to your readers?

Yest THANK YOU!
