Review City of Glass ( Mortal instruments book 3 ) By Cassandra Clare

Goodreads Summary:
To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters -- never mind that enter-ing the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.
As Clary uncovers more about her family's past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadow-hunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadow-hunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he's willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City -- whatever the cost?
Love is a mortal sin and the secrets of the past prove deadly as Clary and Jace face down Valentine in the final installment of the New York Timesbestselling trilogy The Mortal Instruments.

Review ( contains spoilers )

This book is the final chapter in the war agains Valentine. It picks up were the last book has left us. Clary and the lightwoods are preparing a trip to Idris. But what Clary doesn't know is that Jace doesn't want her to com to Idris. He's affraid the clave will abuse Clary's gift.

In the first part of the book the story is been told through Clary and Simon. We travel with Clary to Idris, were she finds out that Jace doesn't want her there. But Clary really wants to find a cure for her mother and the only person knowing the cure is living in Idris.
In the meanwhile Simon is captured by the Clave and thrown in prison. They want him to lie and tell that the Lightwoods are still in contact with Valentine. He will not do this and because of that he won't get any blood, they are leaving him to die in the cell.

The second part of the story you get to know what is going on with Jace and what he happened to him when he was a child. But it also builds up the tension for the big fight. As Clary and Jace discover a big part of who they are, Idris is being attacked by demons. After the fight, Luke is trying to get the clave to see that they should fight with the downwolders against Valentine. But the Clave just won't hear of it.

In the last part of the book Clary's mother returns to her and to Idris. But Clary isn't as happy as she should be with this, because her mother had kept so many secrets from her. Clary decides to tell the Clave what her gift is and hopes that this information will make the Clave decide to fight alonside the downwolders. While they are waiting for the council votes, Clarys mother has one story left to tell her story and she reveals the last secret. ( I won't tell what it is you should read for yourself. )
In the meantime Jace has decided that he should be the one killing Valentine and with a tracking spell he tracks one of Valentines spies. But this spy has a suprise for Jace.... ( another secret I'm not going to tell you ).
The clave decides to fight against Valentine with the downwolders and the war begins. Clary decides to find Valentine and confront him but the portal she uses drops her in a lake and she is saved by Valentine. But not because he loves her so, because he needs her blood. Before Valentine can kill her Jace shows up..... I won't tell anything else because that would give away the ending of the book and I think you should read this for yourselves.

Verdict: ( Spoiler free )

I loved the book, I had a little trouble getting into it because it starts a bit slow. But it builds up the tension, you really want to know what will happen next. I just discovered this series last year, I read Clockwork angel first.
You really feel like this is the ending of a series, and although I knew that there would be three more books I read it like the ending of a series. This is one of my favourtie series and I can't wait for the next book to come out!

Total of Ratties:
